The halls of Merritt Memorial School were buzzing with excitement as students marveled at the stunning entries in the First Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest! This new tradition not only highlighted the creativity of our school community but also underscored the importance of literacy and family togetherness.
The contest encouraged families to sit down together, read a book, and use the story as inspiration for decorating a pumpkin. From colorful characters to imaginative scenes, each pumpkin told a unique tale. This collaborative project served as a wonderful way for families to bond over their shared love of reading while engaging in an artistic activity.
On the morning of October 28th, students proudly delivered their creations to the school’s main office. The pumpkins were displayed for everyone to admire, transforming the space into a gallery of literary-inspired art. During the school day, students cast their votes for their favorite pumpkins, eagerly supporting their peers' creativity.
The winners were revealed at the end of the school day, adding excitement to an already festive day. Families were thrilled to see their efforts recognized, and students celebrated each other’s talents.
